Become a Dalit Freedom Champion!
If you want to bring an end to the injustice of trafficking and slavery, and help bring freedom to India’s Dalits, you can become a Dalit Freedom Champion. Champions help us by raising awareness, or lobbying their MP, or fundraising for our anti-trafficking projects, or starting a Dalit Freedom Action Group.
[why bother?]
The main reason for becoming a champion of India’s Dalits, is that Dalit leaders have asked for our help. They have asked for the international community to raise awareness of the issues facing their people, and to be a voice for those who so often feel they have no voice. This is a human rights issue on a mammoth scale, affecting millions of people from one of the poorest and most oppressed people groups in the world. It is a grave injustice that needs to be brought to an end. There is a strong affinity between the British and India given our history, with its mixture of good and bad. Prime Minister David Cameron has called for a new relationship between the two countries; what better way to affirm this than by bringing freedom, hope and justice to millions of Indians.

We have also had individuals doing sponsored half-marathons, parachute jumps and fancy-dress walks to raise sponsorship. Again the only limit is your imagination. [Read more...]

[free a dalit child]
DFN estimates that 30-40% of children in our schools would otherwise be trafficked. For this reason alone it is worthwhile seeing as many Dalit children as possible being given a quality education that can be their key to freedom, equipping them to escape the cycle of poverty and exploitation that makes them so vulnerable to trafficking. For just £15 a month, you can give a child an education, and help set them free [Read more...][help us help them help themselves]
