Dalit Freedom Champions can achieve a lot on behalf of India’s Dalits, but by forming an action group with others you can achieve so much more!

Our aim is to see a Dalit Freedom Action Group (D:FRAG) in every constituency of the UK, and this lies at the heart of our strategy in the UK. You can start a D:FRAG from scratch with friends and colleagues, or you can make use of existing groups or organisations. How about setting up a D:FRAG in your workplace, company, school, college, university, community organisation, business or leisure club, professional body, trade union, neighbourhood, or faith community?

[raising awareness]

A D:FRAG will have a wider natural audience as you make use of the personal networks of each individual in the group to spread the message. You will have different skills and abilities represented in the group which may well enable you to make presentations to meetings and other groups, or to put on activities to publicise the issue of Dalit trafficking.

[lobbying]

A D:FRAG can tap into a wider group of people to write to their MP. You could even invite your MP to meet with your group, or take the D:FRAG to Westminster to meet your MP there. As a group you also have the opportunity to organise activities to highlight the issue, or to draw attention to particular campaigns. D:FRAGs will enable us to make the most impact on specific campaigns that DFN will be running over the next few years.

[fundraising]

A D:FRAG will find it easier to arrange large fundraising events – such as a charity dinner, a sponsored bike ride, promise auction, talent show, concert or comedy gig. Members of the group can take on different roles and use their particular skills to best advantage. Why not set up a fundraising page on our Virgin Money Giving page?
